CONSIDER THE GOSPEL

It is not enough to know this; we must respond to it! The Bible shares both the bad news and the good news. How will you respond?

We are all sinners.

All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23)

This means we have all missed the mark. When we lie, hate, lust, or gossip, we have fallen short of the standard God has set.

The penalty for sin is death.

For the wages of sin is death. (Romans 6:23)

We earn our wages. The Bible says that by sinning you earn death, which means we deserve to die and be separated from God forever.

Since there is no way for us to come to God,

the Bible says that God came to us.

Christ died for you.

But God demonstrates his own love toward us, in that while were were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)

The Bible tells us that Jesus took the penalty that we deserve for sin, placed it upon himself, and died in our place. Three days later he was resurrected, providing that sin and death were conquered and that his claims as God are true.

You are saved by God's grace through faith in Jesus.

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it's the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9)

Just as you must trust a chair to hold you through no effort of your own -- or trust a parachute to carry you safely to the ground -- you must trust Jesus to forgive you and give you eternal life through no effort of your own.

Is there anything keeping you from trusting Jesus?
