Serving Locally

  • Making a Difference

Leaders: Karen Rogers and Beth Zins

Homework Club started in the fall of 2013 with 8 students and 16 tutors. Our goal was to create an after-school homework club, to encourage the teachers and staff, to provide the best we could for whatever other needs the school might have, and to demonstrate Christian love through serving and prayer.

Today we are serving 9 students with 20 tutors. And the school would like us to expand the Homework Club. We just need more tutors!

Teachers tell us that for those students participating in the Homework Club, their confidence has grown, their attendance is more regular, and their academic achievement is showing improvement. Praise God!

We are beginning to see relationships forming with some of the teachers at the school, as well as with some of the students' families. Several teachers have attended service at the church in which the Homework Club was prayed for and commissioned for service. Please keep praying for new tutors and open doors to minister God's love to teachers, students, and families.

  • Orphan & Foster Care

    Leader: Lisa Settipane

"Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after the orphans and widows in their distress." - James 1:27

The goal of this ministry is to help meet the needs of local foster/adoptive children and increase awareness of the need for families and individuals to help.

In 2016, we participated with 27 other local churches to provide "Bags of Hope" duffle bags for 5,000 local foster children in Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts.

    Ways to be involved:

    • Pray for orphaned children worldwide, in the U.S. and in RI.
    • Speak up and be a resource person to inspire someone else to be involved.
    • Give time, talent, or treasure for orphaned children.
    • Become a "Safe Family" resource for "at risk" children (
    • Become a respite family to support an adoptive or foster family.
    • Become a foster or adoptive parent.
    • Help the church mobilize and join the Orphan Care Team!

  • Summer Day Camp

    Leader: Linda Damiani

Camp Cedarwood is more than just a place! It is an exciting opportunity to share with friends and to make new ones, to acquire new skills and sharpen familiar ones, and to grow in the knowledge of God and have a great time, too!
